Medicare Advantage (Part C)

Understanding the Benefits and Trade-Offs

Medicare Advantage (Part C) offers an alternative to Original Medicare, bundling coverage with low or $0 premiums and extra benefits. It’s appealing, but it comes with pros and cons—we’ll help you decide if it’s right for you with trust and clarity.

Medicare Advantage plans combine Parts A and B, often adding drug coverage and dental, vision, hearing, etc. Premiums can be low, but copays, coinsurance, and deductibles apply, and preauthorization may be required. Plans change yearly, so flexibility matters. An important distinction is Medicare is no longer your primary insurance. You are covered entirely by a private insurance company.

Here’s what to consider:

  • Pros: Low/no premiums, bundled coverage, extra benefits like vision or gym memberships.
  • Cons: Copays/coinsurance, deductibles, preauthorization, and network restrictions.
  • Yearly Changes: Plans adjust annually—stay informed to avoid surprises.
  • Control: Networks limit doctor choices—less freedom than Original Medicare.

Medicare Advantage can save money and add perks, but it’s not one-size-fits-all. We will assess your health and financial needs to see if this is a good fit for you.
